Does a stutter get worse when you think about it? I stutter in everyday conversation, but I’ve noticed that I stutter way more than is typical for me when I think about it. If someone mentions any kind of speech impediment I remember my lisp and stutter and it seems to get worse. I feel like a moron because when it’s brought up and my impediments increase, it seems like I’m doing it on purpose for attention. I’m reminded about speech impediments, I remember my own, I get anxiety and don’t want anyone to hear mine because it’s become a topic, I try to be careful not to screw up, and then I stutter way worse than before and my lisp becomes more pronounced. Any thoughts?
