\#1 just seems like ignorance, but that's very common. Also, some people are asking out of genuine interest, and that's not a bad thing. It's nice when someone wants to know more about it. \#2 is very obvious to ask about, since it's known to be able to help. Whether or not someone in your situation would benefit from carrying on with it is another matter (hard to say, since every therapy tale is different). - Personally, I like to briefly inform people if they ask. It can help when our surroundings understand better what's going on with us. :)
