I learned over the years that if I showed confidence, even with my stutter, people didn't negatively react whether dating or not. Those who did react in a less than wonderful manner are generally not worth getting upset over. That being said, like someone else mentioned, knowing you are awesome and bring a lot to the table will help boost your confidence. I met my wife two months after relocating and knowing nobody in the area. We met while we were both out with friends ; she was cute and I asked if I could buy her a beer. For what it is worth, I have blocks and my fluency ranges from relatively unnoticeable when fully relaxed and comfortable to pretty terrible when I'm nervous and trying to rush. The more I put myself out there and talk to people the more comfortable and confident I become and the less even I notice my stutter. Like anything, practice makes perfect. Just making small talk with a bartender, cashier, salesperson or whatever will get you more used to spontaneous conversation and hopefully will help you as it has helped me. Good luck and as always, being polite and courteous goes a long way!
