Hey, I stuttered most of my life. I have dealt with mental health issues most of my life as well. I’ve been on so many different psych drugs I could always tell the difference in my speech getting better or worse. I was told I stuttered because my brain “went too fast, and my mouth could not keep up.” About ten years ago, I was admitted to a psych ward and put on a cocktail of roughly 20 meds, and my stutter went away. (hell, if I had known that, I would have done that decades ago, lol) I am doing better now, but I am afraid of coming off the meds because my stutter might come back. While in the psych ward, another person started stuttering because he was put on gabapentin. (I'm on it now; probably a much higher dosage.) I still stutter sometimes but nowhere near like before. One thing I used to do was to tap my thumb to my forefinger for each syllable; that would help slow me down. It looked weird, but it helped. Sometimes Michigan State University does surveys here, and you can talk to the staff and give good information. My DMs are open if you would like to talk. Be kind to yourself
