If you take a look at the statistics on stutterers, you would think that you would meet someone with this problem every day, right? The truth is that without fluent speech, you are generally not allowed to appear in public in prominent positions. Be it the barista in a café, the provincial politician or the CEO of a company. There are people who stutter (severely), but not in public. I myself stutter moderately to severely, depending on the situation. But not once in my life have I met anyone in public or in everyday life who stutters similarly. Why? Quite simply: people who stutter do not participate in public life or have stuttered in the past (and overcome it). Whenever people report here in threads that they speak in front of 200 people every day for professional reasons, it can be assumed that they hardly stutter anymore.
