Mutation in the brain is definitely not true! I try to read about current stuttering research, and it is still largely unknown what causes it. Some say it’s part psychological, some say it’s our patterns of breathing, and much much more. Personally, I consider it to be a disability. Merriam Webster defines a disability as “a physical, mental, cognitive, or developmental condition that impairs, interferes with, or limits a person's ability to engage in certain tasks or actions or participate in typical daily activities and interactions”. I think stuttering fits into this definition because it definitely effects our ability to participate in typical interactions on a daily basis. Although it sucks having a stutter and considering that a disability, I ended up having to register with the disability office at my college (which I didn’t like at first), but then I ended up getting special access to certain resources and free printing!
