As I understand you can't really cure a stutter. I've stuttered probably as long as I have spoken, and do exactly what you do. I block on "uh" and "ah" sounds, and sentences that begin with "I", which is any time I give my opinion. Great. I also use tactical pauses which are, and aren't, me thinking before I speak. I generally have huge difficulty participating in group talks as by the time I have controlled my breathing and stutter enough to add something, my moment has passed. Often I just respond to an earlier topic anyway – f\*\*k it. I think it's nothing to be ashamed of, and the opinion of anyone who thinks less of you for having it, is worth thinking less of. If you're stuttering obviously, just say "sorry, I have a stutter", laugh and carry on. I've rarely had a bad experience with this, but I think I also live in a pretty liberal/tolerant bubble.
