Yeah if you think it might make you more comfortable, can be as simple as “hey, I just wanted to let you know I stutter so speaking in this class will naturally be a little more difficult for me.” You could add “I don’t expect any accommodations, just an understanding.” That would usually earn me some respect with the professor and they’d at least call on me less or not at all. I think it’s always a good idea to let people know that you stutter. In my experience, it saves me some nervousness since I’m not trying as hard to hide it, and they’re more prepared for it so you’ll get a better reaction. I posted it in this sub a while ago, but there was a research study that found that people perceived “stutter-ers” much better if they disclosed that they stutter beforehand. Im sure you think that’s a pretty awkward thing to do, and it definitely is at first haha. I’m still trying to do it more because it almost always makes a noticeable difference but yeah it always feels so awkward to do. If you ever have to talk with someone in your class, or really anyone, you can just say “hey just wanna let you know I stutter, so just bare with me haha and let me know if you need me to repeat anything”.
