I used to beat myself up so badly about it throughout high school and college. I have stopped apologizing for it and took ownership of my stutter. 99% of people will be understanding and won’t say shit about when you are upfront with them. I have to present reports weekly at my job and the first time I just flat out told them. It oddly gave me more control of the room. Only once has anyone poked fun at me during work. I kinda felt bad for the guy after everyone started laying into him. I sometimes stretch syllables a little longer than I would like just to make it through a word and I kinda run out of breath so it sounds straight up odd at times.
