Any time! Once you realize this and start to apply it, you'll probably find that is pretty universally true. The more you react/over react to a mistake (or something you perceive as a mistake) the more attention you bring to it. The more attention you bring to it, the more you detract from everything you did right. If it's a personal problem or mistake that hasn't hurt or effected others, it's best to just correct, adjust, and keep moving. Just don't take it too far or you'll just look like a careless asshole.
