Stuttering may make other people uncomfortable, but that's mainly just them feeling bad for the person stuttering and awkward because they don't know what to do. But stutterers feel uncomfortable around other stutterers because they see themselves in the person stuttering, and they think "is this what other people see when they see me?". For that reason, our reaction to someone stuttering is so much stronger than that of a non-stutterer. I find it very hard to believe that anyone who doesn't stutter would be anywhere near that embarrassed watching one of us stutter.
