I find it helps to shape my mouth for that vowel in advance, in an exaggerated way, almost like I would be imitating an LA accent. Doing that, the sound comes out almost automatically, with no effort required. Just practice that a lot the day before and in the morning, and it will feel more natural when you feel stressed.
