Generally I'm used to knowing my stuff well enough that I can wing it, so I don't need to follow a set list of talking points, because on the other hand, I really can't follow one unless I've got slides and notes (which I always intend to make, but procrastinate. Luckily I'm in children's music ed and not an office). What works for me is having a few poetic or peculiar sentences prepared aligned with my major points, as that sticks in the brain better, and can function as a check list for the important stuff. All else I've learned to let be; if it's important, people will ask.
