What OP said is completely true. Small success like saying a few words to people builds your confidence up big time !! But you just have to go outside and do things, find hobbies, even just go to a supermarket and buy a few things say thank you bye when you leave. Try to talk to people instead of looking down or avoiding. No risk no reward but there isn’t even any risk because nothing that bad could possibly happen if you went and talked to that girl or the cashier or whatever If you like music go to a club or disco. If you don’t like music I think u should give it a try! Maybe get a few drinks at the club. Controversial, but alcohol IN MODERATION has definitely helped my confidence in the long run. Go dance and don’t give a single f about anyone watching, it’s your life and you can literally do anything you want to. You have the power to sit in your room and do nothing and you have the power to go outside and leave your comfort zone. Having a hobby or anything you are interested is very important Imo because it gives you places to go like gatherings/sport events/meet ups/ parties or absolutely anything that interests you as long as it gets you outside into the world where you are bound to come across people. some will listen to you and some won’t. Speak to those random people who interest you and don’t let that voice in your head tell you that you can’t. Overpower it. If you see pretty girl and want to talk to them why should you not be able to? I will say that being at a club and talking to girls or anyone is easier when you are drunk. But I do not want to glorify anything here, too much of anything can be bad. Being interested in everything around you and in the world like music, politics or games chess art - quite literally whatever floats your boat — gives you shit to talk about like hey did you see this new thing or yo what is your favourite whatever it doesn’t matter just be interested in shit and you’ll always have something to talk about. Start small and take control of your own life. I promise you I was exactly like you but I did just as I have told you and Now I sometimes forget I had a stutter. It does get better. I still have bad days everyone does and that’s life If you want to know more about stuttering Google search for stutter read about it find out how it works in the brain - knowledge is power , power is confidence Also if you want to know more search up - stuttering the flight or fight response, breathing methods for stuttering, speaking exercises for stuttering ( this can relax vocal cords, which tense when you block) , also search stuttering fluency techniques All of this will help only if you help yourself Maybe a bit self helpey but this is all stuff I wish I knew earlier.
