I feel that the experience between men and women are a bit different. Men are expected to be more confident and to be assertive when they talk. Stuttering (in my culture at-least) is a sign of weakness. Women who stutter are slightly more accepted, shows that your more quiet/nervous/cute. Women don’t have to show that bravado whereas men have to. Also I feel that if your attractive, the stutter will be accepted rather than if you ugly. I’ll take your advice to be upfront about my stutter to people, if I meet someone and choose a quiet setting.
