I think that negative past experiences might reinforce defenses (like a protection mechanism). And this is refined over a lifetime. My question is then: Other than negative past experiences. What else might reinforce those defenses? For example, past experiences can lead to over regulation of speech execution. But. What other subconscious elements (that we have at least some control over) can result in a too protective, over regulated speech execution threshold?
