"I HATE this mentality." "other people speaking to me is already a favor" "they gain confidence and don't respect you as much" "Stuttering is not something I chose, neither something I'm proud of." You said that you hate your mentality and your anxiety thoughts are that you see yourself as inferior (because you hangout with people you rather not hangout with). In my opinion, YOU can reduce anxiety (choice you control). Your instinct (mind) should not focus on reducing this anxiety (choice you don't control), at least that's my thought on it. Instead, learn to speak WITH the anxiety (from your instinct). So let the thoughts and feelings of anxiety be in your mind (don't stop it) and don't let it bother you. Then you learn to not care about this anxiety. Then you will respond differently to the stutter mental state. "I don't know how to get out of this loop. And i feel hopeless knowing this can't be cured." You said you don't know how to get out of this loop. Let me give an example first, a human brain consists of different mental states (mentalities), for example, when one talks with a little kid at home or one's professor at University. Each mental state has different 'weights' to make a choice. The same choices in both situations, results in different decisions based on the 'weights' of whichever 'mental state' you apply. What do stutterers choose? We choose (obviously this is subconsciously) to tense speech muscles because of the mental state (in our brain) that we apply. Our "stutter mental state" has many weights (to choose for tensing speech muscles). One of the weights could be, believing that you cannot do it. "knowing this can't be cured." To get out of this anxiety loop, let's imagine that there are 20 most popular weights, then the way to approach this is likely not to only approach 'the belief'. The solution is rather to approach multiple weights (whereof one is the belief). Then the question is: what other weights (that we can control) could stutterers (potentially) use to choose for tensing speech muscles?
