I play guitar but don't really experience anything like stuttering while playing. I might freeze if I forget how to play something or if I mess up and can't get straight back into the tune, then come back in at the next phrase. There might be some similarity with my stutter in that if I block, I generally pause to gather myself and get to a mental place where I can speak.
