We had a cool interaction today that I had no idea was triggered by stuttering. I was on Facebook trying to fundraise for the National Stuttering Association and selling the T-shirts the Boston Chapter is selling. After I pestered every human I could reach I started looking for a bike for my daughter. Someone reached out to me and offered us a really nice bike for free. I was psyched and we went right out to get it. It turns out the guy is a person who stutters and he’s very successful. He chatted with my son and he let him know that if he feels confident in himself, he can do anything. He was so cool, so down to earth and just a great person. I felt lucky to cross his path and my son was beaming afterwards. Then my daughter turned to my son and thanked him. She said if it wasn’t for his stutter we wouldn’t have such great luck. By the way... if you are reading this then you might be a human I haven’t pestered yet: If you’re interested in a t-shirt they say “Boston Stutters” with the Boston skyline on the front with the NSA logo as the sun and #WeStutter on the back. $15 for cotton T; $17 for performance T- great to raise awareness:-). PM me if you’re interested and I can give you more details. Shipping would have to be calculated. I’m not doing the actual selling so I’ll direct you to the person who is.
