I only recovered from my stuttering at age 70! I did, however, enjoy a fulfilling life although I stuttered. I married well( I'm a female) and raised two fine children. You can enjoy this life although you stutter. Don't give in to self-loathing and allow your depression to further handicap you. Pursue your advancement in your education, profession, or trade. Your self-esteem will help you feel more equal to others. Psychological counseling can definitely help. We all have suffered from the embarrassment of stuttering and being unable to fully express ourselves. The emotional damage, obvious as well as latent, is there. Counseling helps. Coming to terms with our resentment relieves some of our dysfluency. I overcame my stutter through psychotherapy to deal with the damage from an abusive childhood. Don't discount the possibility of just becoming more fluent as our stuttering is dependent upon multiple circumstances. Environment and our self-esteem play a big a role. If you're ever in the position to receive speech therapy, don’t overlook that help. Continue your involvement in this r/stutter group as we all can offer as well as receive help. Best of luck, we are strengthened by this challenge. Sue
