The effectiveness of therapy depends a lot on the therapist. You should also make sure she isn't just calling herself a speech therapist. I had that issue when my parents took me somewhere when I was younger. She wasn't really prepared to help me. She just made me sing and read poetry and stuff. Kind of like ryhtmic speaking, which is pointless because most stutterers don't stutter when singing or using rhythm. I can say from experience that what you're describing doesn't sound like normal speech therapy. Different therapists have different methods, but generally they focus on things like gentle onsets, and diaphragm breathing, among others. I took an intensive 14 day therapy thing with some of these methods and it definitely helped me, although it wore off because I wasn't practicing and it's hard to practice that stuff on your own when you've been exposed to it for so little time. I think more constant therapy would help me.
