Almost completely cured - a few tips that helped me

Almost completely cured - a few tips that helped me I blocked as child, the way you're screaming the words in your head you want to say but the anxiety stops the breath flow. Then when under stress and due to an abusive work environment, it came back to me as an adult. Saying my own name and words starting with G, N & K have been hard. I realised my stutter is 100% due to anxiety caused by self hatred. It could be making too many mistakes at my job, or being angry at not achieving enough that day. So three things that helped me, in order; 1. Seeing a physiologist familiar with stuttering issues, 2. taking up a mindfulness hobby (mine is tai chi) to help calm the body and the breath, and 3. taking note of how I'm forming words. The "K" sound, for example. Noticing the tongue position and practising it so when I come to stutter, I know in order to get PAST that block is to relax, let the air flow and consciously make my tongue and mouth form those shapes. After all, that's all speaking is - mouth shapes and exhalation. I must stress you can't do 2 in the moment without 3. I highly recommend everyone on this board who can't say their own name (and there seems to be a lot of you!) to go see a psychologist to make you feel better about your situation and happier about yourself, then behind the process of finding a mindfulness hobby that you personally enjoy. It will really allow you to relax, get a different perspective and lessen the paralysing fear that hits at those inopportune moments. Any questions, feel free to ask.
