"what would happen if we completely forgot about stutter" To answer your question, the goal of completely forgetting stuttering is to eliminate our stutter triggers. A psychologist (or any psychology book) will explain that one cannot eliminate triggers. So trying to forget in itself will not eliminate the triggers. Once you stop ignoring/distracting (forgetting) then the stutter will return, because you didn't eliminate the trigger from your instinct.
