>So - u say this presentation was just announced and was not listed on the syllabus as a requirement, yes? So, at my college, grades are usually split into two parts: a support exam (which in our case is a presentation for this course) that helps your grade, and the final, which is written and mandatory for all courses. Some professors go with just the final, but others have both, with the first one being easier to avoid putting all the weight on a tough final. Originally, our professor said we'd only have the final because he didn’t have time for another exam due to extra classes. But last minute, he changed his mind, probably because of rules or his own decision, and now we’re stuck with both the presentation and the final. I think what happened is that the professor probably told the administration he didn’t want to schedule the support exam, but they probably refused since both exams are mandatory (even though some professors skip the first one). Now he’s set this tight deadline for next week because winter break is coming up and there’s not much time left. So, it's really not his fault. It’s a bit unusual, but that’s how it works here. (Sorry, i didn't intend for this to be long) >If so... go to him ASAP! explain your situation, say that if u were aware of the obligation of public speaking aa part of the course u would have approached him earlier in the semester to explore some kind of accomidation - acknowledge that you don't want to be treated differently and that you don't want to shrug your obligations to your group - but that the short timeline between hearing of this obligation in conjunction with obligations to other courses has you fearing your final grade may suffer as a result of this speach issue you have been struggling with for X years. I'll talk to him before this sunday whenever he's available. >Am 90% sure they will "have a heart". I'm optimistic about it too, because he seems like a really understanding person. Anyway, no matter how it goes, I think he’ll have a positive reaction, even if he ends up refusing. >Pls let me know how it goes! >Good luck with finals! I will! Thank you for the support.
