Stuttering holds us back only if we let it. Be your best self at work. Smile, maintain eye contact while speaking and stuttering. If you project self confidence, customers/listeners will follow your cues. Remember, most people don’t give a damn about us. They just want their coffee and to move on. Everyone has their own agenda, their own “thing,” that makes them different. I worked at McDonald’s in my late teens, in the drive through. All people cared about was getting their food right and served in under 60 seconds. My coworkers were decent too - “oh, that’s just how she talks.” They’d tease me sometimes but were quick to my defense if a customer acted like a jerk.
