No one takes stuttering seriously as a speech impediment and I have been belittled my entire life for it. It makes everyone for the most part treat you like shit and it makes it extremely difficult to do anything in regards to socializing. Hell it’s even super fucking difficult to even get insurance companies to pay for it. Yes I know anxiety can cause stuttering but it’s a HUGE difference. I think that should defiantly be treated but I just want to make the distinction clear. When I saw you just immediately telling someone to take care of their stuttering by treating anxiety disorder ofc that triggers me. I know it’s not true to the slightest degree and it’s been a battle my ENTIRE life. It’s a generalization that people make about this disability that’s just not true.
