I know what you mean. Makes me feel weird because I also need to be confident and “in charge” for my children. But I had to have an honest chat with my 7 year old son once after he laughed at me. Broke my heart - but I got up quickly and talked to him about my stuttering and spending years dealing with it. He did get it and that was a small win for me - both as a dad and as a stutterer. Most times I think of the little wins and not as much about the struggles. But the name thing - which actually has again become a problem for me after a number of years is really finding a way to poke at me rather painfully.
