My stutter fluctuates in terms of quantity and the TYPE of stutter I have. Although it’s been a struggle my entire life, I’ve tried to not let it stop me from doing what I want. I’m a preschool teacher now and I love my job. During college and grad school I had a lot of second thoughts. Like how could someone like me who stutters teach kids? I’m so happy i didn’t let it stop me. I love the students I work with. Sometimes a new student will make a comment or ask a question regarding the way I talk, and I tell them that’s how I talk and we’re all different. They always accept it and keep it moving. All I have to say is don’t let your speech stop you from doing what you want! It also gets soo much better as you get older and grow into your own skin. I’m 30 now, and the way I think about my stutter is drastically different from when I was 20. I believe confidence is a huge part of that. Good luck to you!
