In my 20ish years of experience having a stutter, I’d say it depends. I’ve had periods of time when my stutter is good and/or I have adapted to my environment well enough to work with it. Stressful life events seem to bring it back and the cycle of working towards fluency starts all over again. As to how do I manage it, I try to do a lot of talking on days where my stutter is good. As for bad days, it’s a combination of trying to avoid speaking situations, practicing breathy speech, or sometimes just crying in my car to let the frustration out.
