It’s possible that you’ll eventually stop stuttering but at age 22 your odds are very slim. Age 8-9 is a little late but definitely well within the age range a developmental stutter can manifest. Regardless, there is no such thing as a cure to stuttering. There are strategies you can use to limit your stuttering but if you set your goal to get rid of it entirely you’ll just become frustrated. Definitely go see a speech pathologist, its never too late. And just a side note I think your understanding of what a stutter means for most people is a little flawed. You clearly have no ill intent but “getting better” implies there is something wrong to begin with. Most of us would get rid of our stutter if we could but that doesn’t mean having it is a flaw.
