In this boat for the last 5-10 years now. I find that if I tell the person I’m meeting up front that i have a stutter than it’s a lot easier to introduce myself (name and all) and get the conversation going as there’s no longer that pressure to have fluent speech. Sometimes I can do it without but other times not so much - especially with ordering food. Another thing I do is just spell out my name, I don’t care what others think so I just go with what works best for me. :)
