There are thousands of illnesses, syndromes, disabilities and whatnot that have one or less than one percent chance of occurring. Sure, if you buy one lottery ticket that has one in million chance to win that's quite rare, but if you buy hundred thousand that's significantly less impressive. Sure it sucks but it's not an impressively bad luck it just sucks in boring type of way
