Hey bud, mid-20s guy here with a stutter and similar “blocks” as you. I’m so sorry you’re going through a rough time. I wanted to quickly share my experience so you know you’re not alone. In conversation I’ll sometimes get stuck on a word and just go silent as my throat fails to make a sound. It’s been a real challenge to address at my new job. It’s also contributed to me getting really anxious about social situations, and I had essentially no romantic experience until this year when I just started dating my girlfriend. I think the speech therapy would be a good idea if you’re feeling frustrated and upset — they might be able to teach you some tricks to “roll” with your blocks or pre-empt them entirely. You should know, there are others of us who can relate to your pain and care and want to share those experiences with you. It sucks to feel like you’re alone and up against something so challenging. I’m sorry if it feels really bad. I promise you, you can do this. You can get past your stutter. It can be frustrating and tough and embarrassing and exhausting, but you’re a strong person and you’ve got so much in you. Feel good, friend
