I do have a stutter when silent-mouthing. Yes, stuttering can be triggered. I never really labeled myself as a stutter till 2 years back, and it has had no effect on my stuttering. Yes, the majority of SLPs talk about how thinking we are going to stutter will trigger it. Unlearning conditioning might help some of the stutter, but will not eliminate it. My conclusion is that stuttering has been more of a person-to-person case. Also, I have had a stutter my whole life, referring to persistent developmental stuttering(if that is what you meant).
