Thank you for sharing this thoughts. I consider myself as a tough stutterer. But it wasn't a big issue for me until teacher in school told me to read aloud a piece from a book and before i started she told me "calm down, relax, everything is fine". I was like: hey, why should I be calm and relax? What's wrong? Is this all about my ability to speak? That was about 25 years ago but I still remember. :) I believe that the worst thing that can be made to a stuttering kid is to put him to speech therapy class (or special school or kindergarten, just like we have in Russia). That was the main reason of my stuttering. Then a doctor told me that because my father stutters that means I gonna stutter myself. I believed him. My opinion is that common stutter (which 99 per cent of us have) has nothing to do with physical condition. Psychological trauma only.
