As an adult, I pretty never have people make fun of me. I do get strangers who make light hearted jokes sometimes that mean nothing by, they’re just ignorant. You know ‘did you forget your name?’ Or whatever. Ignorance isn’t a crime here, in my opinion. It’s literally just a lack of awareness. I laugh along with them, and then nicely tell them I stutter. They usually feel awful and apologize profusely. I don’t need the apology, but it’s a learning experience for them. I don’t get worked up. Hopefully they learn a lesson. Win win.
