Hello there! College can be an anxiety ridden mess! If you have to speak in class I suggest being the FIRST to volunteer. In my biology class we had to do an article review that related to something "biological". The day of presentations, I was talking to my friend before class about how anxious I was because I stuttered. He said, "dude we are all freaking out" When class began the professor asked for a volunteer. NO ONE raised their hands. Out of sheer anxiety madness, I raised my hand. Walked up to the front of class. I stuttered more than I ever had. Took me forever to finish. It was a dreadful experience. When I was finished the professor asked for another volunteer. After several seconds a young lady raised her hand and said, "If that guy can do it, no reason I can't" After that a cascade of volunteers happened until presentations were finished. College is different from high school. People are more mature, it is a mix of ages, and backgrounds. During my stutter laden presentation, not one person laughed or made fun of me. That moment in my life made me realize that everyone has insecurities and anxiety about something. I now meet my stuttering anxieties head on.
