I sent my professor an email. I moved to the US last month for university. I was extremely nervous because I was traveling alone and I've been having speech blocks since the 7th grade. I decided to go because almost everyone from both sides of my family have studied abroad and I didn't want to disappoint them. I am very fortunate that I have made a lot of friends here despite my speech impediment and I am very grateful for that. This morning, our professor assigned us a zoom discussion assignment where we have to discuss a video we saw in class. We had done a practice discussion last week and i did pretty well, so I was very confident. When we started recording the video, I got the biggest speech block ever, and my speech wasn't as fluent as I wanted it to be. We couldn't redo the video since my partners were busy later in the day and the assignment is due tomorrow. I was hoping that I would just edit the video and cut all the parts where I was stuttering, but I just couldn't bring myself to relive the moment again. My professor is very understanding of my stutter in class, so I decided to send her the raw video with this message. "Hello Professor, This is the discussion video. I apologize if my voice was not intelligible since I had a bit of difficulty expressing my views due to my speech impediment. I do not want this to seem like an excuse but rather an explanation. Thank you"
