FWIW, many of us can feel when and how we're going to stutter. I think, in most cases, the "why" isn't understood, even if the PWS believes they have the answer. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we're experts on a condition because we have that condition. Stuttering is a complex disorder and the experts don't have a great handle on the "why." I was slow to come around to the emerging science related to the genetic component to stuttering. People continue to cite different studies in this sub. I'm a little curious how you acknowledge that stuttering exists on your mom's side of the family but disbelieve that it is hereditary. *I'm not asking for a response.* You've indicated there's details you choose to withhold and I respect that.
