A little encouragement

A little encouragement I visit here infrequently and have had a stutter my whole living memory. The last year or two has been pretty rough and can echo a lot of what I see in some of the posts about things really feeling impossible, set up some nice vicious feedback loops between challenging circumstances making my speech worse and this feeding in to making life more challenging. Just a note that the circumstances you are in likely won’t last forever. Of course nothing is guaranteed, I know better than to offer empty platitudes to those in the hardest of times with a stutter, it’s horrible and won’t vanish overnight. I’m sure too that I’ll have periods where it will be more challenging again, but enjoying better speech and using the phone (mostly) with more confidence. Still the odd bad day but taken steps to adjust what I can in my life and worked on dealing with what I can, setting up some positive loops. It’s likely only in retrospect you will see improvements, but persevere. Small steps and don’t let the bad days distraction you from all the progress you make. Anyway I will stop waffling and hope this is an encouragement to someone who needs it. Also, favourite new quote from recent reading..’better to do it than live with the fear of it’.
