Thanks for your response! I think one of the problems is that some students have been half\-assing it. I know a few students who didn't even attempt the pseudostuttering exercise but are writing their papers as if they had. While these students are some of my more timid and shy classmates, they also objected to the assignment because they thought it might be offensive to someone who stutters. I thought so as well. How useful do you think it is if we were only required to say a few sentences, and we weren't required to use all the core behaviors (i.e., repetitions, prolongations, blocks)? I mean, it seems like normal disfluency would satisfy the requirements. And if that's the case, than can we say normal disfluency gives us a small glimpse into what it might be like to stutter? Also, do you stutter? I hope you don't mind my asking. I'm thinking about incorporating some of these responses into my reflection about the assignment.
