Do any important names, places etc start with the letters you are having trouble with? For example: “My name is Ted and my Dad and I just moved from Tennessee. We live on King street.” The specific letter blocks and extreme avoidance behaviors you described are *classic* issues with dysfluency rooted in fear of others hearing you have repetitions. Many of us understand exactly what you described! “Taking deep breaths” is advice that comes from SLPs with literally no academic training in dysfluency. It’s said to try to help but please please do not try it if you want to decrease fear-based blocks. I did the following and have been 95% comfortably fluent for a year. It’s scary at first! But it’s free and effective. It’s the technique that’s suggested by SLP’s who are also PWS, who specialize in dysfluency. Most ppl here who are now comfortable talking have used variations of this. Use b-b-brief voluntary repetitions as often as you can manage, or just disclose that you stutter. Make normal eye contact, begin slowly *on normal size exhale*, and enunciate. Also, before trying advice, I strongly suggest vetting the ideas yourself. Has it worked sustainably for them? Are there links to SLPs with focus on dysfluency who use similar ideas? Ask me for more those details. This works.
