You should stop playing a victim and carry on

You should stop playing a victim and carry on This is a short rant after seeing a recent stream of posts in the recent weeks trying to portray stuttering as an identity group of victimized neurodivergent people. Stuttering sucks. But it's nothing special. Many have various conditions that might affect their lives - some of them are visible, and some of them are less visible. All people are somehow broken, but we just carry on. So you were dealt a condition that's more visible than others? Well, then find another competitive advantage that you can excel in. Simple. Especially in these days when verbal speech is not needed that much at all compared to 20 years ago. You think you didn't get a job because of the stutter? I have news for you - unless you're applying for a broadcaster position (or similar), nobody cares about your stutter. It's all about your output. You're just trying to find something to blame. You want to create a stutter-only social group? Or only having friends that have speech impediments? Just so you can circlejerk each other? It's only going to get you more distanced and marginalized. In a social context, even people without speech impediments cannot find friends or lasting relationships. It's not about your stutter. (The only exception is if you're a teenager. Sometimes teenagers can be evil for no reason.) "But I would be so invincible if I didn't stutter. I'd be so much better!" - you know what else is better? Neighbour's grass.
