I graduated from this program back in 2016, then have helped out as a volunteer in several of the following years since then. It is an overnight camp with an intensive schedule of therapy mixed in with social activities. The program has many goals and it follows a calculated schedule with every activity having a purpose. Overall, it taught me to not be afraid of my stutter and to embrace and own it. Aside from the increases in confidence and ability to self advocate, I learned multiple techniques that helped me manage my stutter as well as ways to practice them when I’m away from the program. The program is run by a university so the clinicians are graduate students, however they are supported by camp supervisors who know the program like the back of their hand. This program changed my life and actually helped me realize that I wanted to be a speech language pathologist. I’m currently a first year graduate student. Let me know if you guys have any other questions about the program, but I’d recommend it to anybody who stutters.
