Clinicians, I stuttered since early childhood and recovered at the age of 70! I stuttered for 65 years and then became fully fluent through psychotherapy dealing with my latent anger and resentment over my abusive childhood. My stuttering was totally emotionally caused. The stuttering just ended and I realized I no longer no stuttered! It surprised me and everyone who knew me that I could almost speak naturally as if I’d always been a fluent speaker. I used no techniques of any kind. It was just natural speech. I now support other PWSs because having stuttered for 65 years I consider myself a stuttered, though a recovered one. I now support others and offer encouragement and a listening ear. There are so many young PWS who seem to have lost hope for a successful future in their personal and professional lives. I was there but fortunately had a successful marriage and family, stutter and all. I graduated from university but never had to complete in a career because my husband was a professional and I was fortunate to be a full-time wife and mother. I commend your efforts to understand this most complex disorder. Sincerely, Susan ‘Sue’ Beyer
