Is "1% of people stutter" actually true? This stat is thrown around everywhere, and I know there's some studies that claim numbers around this. But does anyone else have a hard time believing this? In my entire life (I'm 20) I can only recall having met 4 people with a stutter. But I would estimate the number of people I've interacted with would be in the 1000s (Just think how many new voices you hear every day?). I would guess that 0.1% feels like a more realistic figure. Does this bother anyone else? Are there any studies which support my feeling?
