I'm going to voice my opinion pretty much every time somebody compares a physical disability to stuttering. They are nothing alike. I understand where people who are unfamiliar with physical disabilities might try to equate stuttering to a physical disability. So I'll say this kindly... Stuttering is treatable. Improved fluency can be attained. Even without treatment, stuttering has its ebbs and flows. Some people get over stuttering on their own. Wheelchair users have more ongoing challenges than most people realize. Their condition never gets better. And often continues to get worse. I stuttered for the first 25 years of my life. Severe stuttering. I have a family member who is under 20, and is doing everything they can to stay out of a wheelchair. And it's a constant battle.
