Female stutterer here! I never really thought about the difference in genders, but I guess I've only really met one or two female stutterers before. The "cute" thing is a real annoyance and I'm sure nobody has ever said this to a man who stutters. It's super patronizing. I've experienced this when talking candidly to romantic interests about my stutter and it's always rubbed me the wrong way how they *insist* how "cute" it is--like "don't worry babe this doesn't make me less sexually attracted to you." Usually I've brought it up to a newish person I'm dating during the opening-up stage of dating since this is obviously something that's personal and has affected my life. I sure as hell don't need a man to be "okay" with the fact that I stutter or tell me how I need to view myself as a female stutterer. It's probably telling that my current SO has never made this comment.
