I agree, it takes such a toll on us mentally and no one gets it.. even if the few of us do, it's impossible for a non stutterer to really get what it's like to have a obstacle to get over when ordering food, introducing yourself, talking to friends/family. Recently when someone says have a good day to me I block on the "you too" I can't sound out the beginning of "you" so a few times I just say thanks after they tell me to have a good day and I feel terrible about it. I don't want to waste the cashiers time as I stand there for what feels like 5 minutes trying to say "you too, thank you"
