Stuttering destroys social life, social skill, in school you been laughted, avoid socialising, being active in lesson so your grades are lower, you sit silent and got same grade as interrupting kid. So you just escape to virtual world. Sit alone in room. Im not sure if I would be more outgoing without it. As someone else suggested, look for local stuttering support groups - everyone stutter so people will be more understanding, dunno. But if you find somewhere else friend that is okay with it, that's nice, like hobby group, events. For me its kinda easier to make friends online, through games. Another good advice is to look for new hobby, eat better, better clothes fit?! gym/workout at home. Last advice suggested here is exposure therapy - slowly going out, trying small talk - I mean to be less anxious about stuttering and accepting it, ignoring it, I guess its not for everyone.
